Building a culture of collaboration on the west coast
On 16 September, the WorkCover WA conference brought together stakeholders from across WA for a program jam-packed with excitement and expertise. The theme of the day was 'Amplifying Impact', a topic that resonates closely with the It Pays to Care mission. Dr Mary Wyatt joined a panel of esteemed medical professionals to talk about the medical perspective on RTW, and Rhea Mercado, founder of Threesticks Training and Development and The Intelligent Rebellion, took to the Optus Stadium stage to speak about combining technology with our human qualities of compassion, intuition, and imagination to amplify our impact in workers compensation.
Discussing the Difficult - 15 September
The IPTC team arrived at Optus Stadium a day early, bringing together a sold out room of case management professionals to think about their most difficult conversations!
Dr Mary introduced the crowd to the It Pays to Care policy and spoke from their professional experience on the importance of effective communication - an importance backed up by evidence. Rhea then took the group through the Messaging Matters: IECCC Framework, offering a tool that can empower clear and compassionate communication and address challenging aspects of the case management journey.
Speaking to the Public Sector - 17 September
We also stayed late! On Wednesday, we ran a similar session but tailored toward the challenges faced by public sector employers. This session explored the unique cultural factors at play in government settings, from navigating complex stakeholder relationships to addressing psychosocial risks within large systems. Participants reflected on the barriers they face in supporting staff through difficult conversations and shared practical strategies to foster more open, compassionate communication in the public sector.
